The unexamined life is not worth living...Socrates
The luxury of retirement has provided the time necessary to write ?Stories and more?. The writings themselves are a mixed-bag of random recollections, opinions, and make-believe that stem from my personal experiences, world-view and the culture I was molded in. They're not going to necessarily be agreeable to all readers, nor do I expect them to be. I do aspire, however, to project my perspectives gained in 73 years of living on this earth, motivated by the vanity that my grandchildren and others might be amused and informed about who I was.
I have one regret however: And that is for reasons I can't explain, even to myself, I haven?t been able to write in more detail about the most important person in my life, my wife Mary Jane; certainly not proportionate to what I feel, or to what she deserves. Indeed, but for her I don?t really think I would have had any ?stories? worth putting on paper. My mother is also not sufficiently recognized in my scribbling?and once again because what I love so deeply and privately seems to be currently beyond my ability and satisfaction to put into words. I can only hope that sometime before it?s all over, I?ll be able to do so.
